How to Search

Where to start

Unless you have a specific title or author in mind, it's usually a good idea to start with a general keyword that broadly covers your subject.

You can always narrow your search later, but if if you're too specific in the beginning, there's a chance you'll miss out on some good resources!

Search the Catalog

This search box will look through everything in our library cataloging system, Primo, which keeps track of the location information for both our physical and digital resources.

Give it a try!

Next, find it on the shelves

With about 45,000 physical books in our collection, we know it can be daunting to find what you're looking for!

A search in our library catalog will return a list of items that might look like this:

library catalog record with arrow pointing to bolded call number

The bolded string of letters and numbers indicated by the red arrow above is the call number. This allows us to organize by subject or genre, and will help you find books in our collection.

Books are marked with an individual call number on their spine, and each shelf has a sign indicating the range of call numbers it holds. (ProTip: If you browse in this section on the shelves, you may find other books on your topic.)

If you can't find what you are looking for, library staff is more than willing to help you.

Happy hunting!
