Patron Privacy Policy

WVC Libraries subscribe to the tenets outlined in the Library Bill of Rights, as published by the American Library Association:

All people, regardless of origin, age, background, or views, possess a right to privacy and confidentiality in their library use. Libraries should advocate for, educate about, and protect people’s privacy, safeguarding all library use data, including personally identifiable information.

This means that, although we may ask for your photo ID in lieu of a library card, it is only used to access your library account. We strive to protect your right to privacy, and do not share patron information, borrowing history, or library attendance with others, except when required by law.
